I am interested. Who else?

(Reposting from another thread -- I need to get an updated CMOS quote with the new GitHub files)

The minimum order size from Sierra Circuits appears to be 15 or 20x for fabrication and there is a dramatic reduction in cost from 5 to 20 assemblies ($174/piece to $96/piece for the DAQ and $162 to $63/piece for the CMOS sensor). We will not be using 20 boards, so I was wondering if there were any labs who would like to purchase these pieces together? It would definitely save money for everyone. I'm not sure how this would work from a purchase order standpoint but I'm sure we can figure that out.

Let me know, Jeff

Hello everyone,

Below are price quotes I just received from Justin at Sierra Circuits for PCB fabrication and assembly of the 2 main PCBs in the Miniscope system. These quotes will give you an idea of quantities you should be aiming for in group orders and you can directly reference these quotes when talking with Justin. A more detailed overview of these quotes will be placed on the part procurement page.

Hi all, we are also trying these days to make an order and face the same issue of the initial cost for fabrication of multiple unnecessary boards etc.

So It would be great if can coordinate an order (in the near future).

I made this list (link) to keep track of people who are interested and try to coordinate.

I will send a mail soon to those who sign-up.

As for the logistics, it is not clear yet how we can do it, but it seems feasible.

I see two solutions for shipping/invoicing logistics:

1. Easiest. Perhaps Sierra Circuits could arrange for multiple invoices and shipments, perhaps for extra handling fee. We'll inquire.

2. Painful. We face the situation that shipping charges become comparable to price gains. As we are in Germany, the list that Nikolas (he is in my group) should preferably be in Europe or else we need a lab in US willing to receive the shipment and split the boards and ship to all parties on the list. Shipping back to US from Europe means money, customs, dealing with VAT etc.. We need to avoid this pain. Invoicing might be difficult due to our financial dept. inflexibility.

I am interested and signed-up the list. Najet

Hi,

I would be interested but I face the same problems Antsiro mentioned... Burocracy here in Germany has expanded to the level we canĀ“t do any more orders via credit card. I hope somebody comes with a solution, maybe we can also check who is interested in Europe? Although if there is any way I would rather get them from Sierra. I wrote myself in the list anyway.

Hello all, I am a postdoc at U-Michigan and would like to gauge interest in group ordering filter sets. As stated in this wiki, an order of 20 or more filter sets results in filter prices of ~$20/filter. I have recently obtained a quote from chroma and learned that when buying only four sets, the price is closer to $150/filter. If there is enough interest, I am happy to coordinate the order. Please reply here or email me: vcazares@umich.edu Thanks! Victor
